Benefits – Bell peppers
Bell peppers, sweet peppers, baby capsicum, snacking capsicum- whatever your want to call these ridiculously cute and crunchy peppers they have an abundance of benefits. They are related to chili peppers, tomatoes, and breadfruit that fall into the nightshade family.
Bell peppers come in different colours like yellow, orange, red and green. They are all generally sweet except for the green ones- unripe green peppers have a slightly bitter flavour and aren’t as sweet as fully ripe ones. They are exceptionally rich in vitamin C and loaded with other minerals and vitamins like B6, vitamin K, E & A, potassium and folate.
Next time you’re at your organic grocer and see these little guys make sure you grab a bag full and make a conscious effort to snack on them throughout the day. You can snack on them on their own, have them with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and hummus. Adding them in to your salads or putting it on the barbecue is a great way to incorporate bell peppers to your healthy diet. My 3 & 5 year old had this whole serving in one sitting. Safe to say, they love their organic bell peppers for their crunchy texture, sweet subtle taste and no juice / mess factor.
